About this course

For chiropractors, jurisprudence is not only a licensure requirement but also a useful guide to acceptable practice. Understanding and practicing within the defined limits of professional authority protects the patient and practitioners from avoidable disciplinary action.
This program is designed specifically for Maryland chiropractors to provide them with an understanding of the regulatory structure that underpins their day-to-day work. We will look at the Maryland Health Occupations Article, Title 3, as well as the COMAR provisions which fall under Title 10, Subtitle 43. We will cover scope of practice definitions, physical therapy privileges, dry needling registration, chiropractic assistant supervision, continuing education requirements, recordkeeping, informed consent, mandatory reporting, administrative compliance, and disciplinary procedures.

PLEASE NOTE
This course is not suitable for practical application and does not provide legal advice. Maryland laws and regulations are ever-changing; chiropractors must turn to the Maryland State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the Maryland Department of Health, the current COMAR text, and qualified legal counsel as needed. In Maryland’s regulatory structure for chiropractic practice, which is found in COMAR Title 10, Subtitle 43, you will find chapters that cover general regulations, advertising, chiropractic assistants, continuing education, patient
records, code of ethics, scope of practice, dry needling, and disciplinary procedures.
